About
Wall Stare · why it exists
People have forgotten how to be bored. Most of us can no longer sit alone in silence with our own thoughts — the phone comes out the moment there is a gap. We think that is genuinely unhealthy. This is why we built Wall Stare.
What it is
A timer for doing nothing. A reminder arrives, you tap once, put the phone down across the room, and stare at a wall for ten minutes. A sound brings you back.
Why a wall
The wall is not a gimmick. It is the only thing that reliably gives you nothing. A window has something to watch. Closed eyes turn into a nap. Anything else in the room is still something specific. A blank wall guarantees no new input for the length of the session, which leaves you alone with your own thoughts — that is the whole point of it.
What it will not do
It does not want your attention. Specifically:
- it never praises you and never uses an exclamation mark,
- it does not count streaks and does not mind if you stop,
- it does not call rest productivity, focus, or self-improvement, and
- there are no accounts, no servers, no analytics and no ads
What it keeps is a record of the minutes you gave yourself, not a chart of the days you missed. It asks for your attention once, when the reminder arrives, and then gets out of the way.
